Yoni Rechter (composer, singer, arranger and musical director) has been one of Israel’s most important and influential musicians since the 1970s.
Known as a member of the legendary band “Kaveret”, and a composer and arranger for many of Israel’s leading singers including: Arik Einstein, Esther Ofarim, Yehudith Ravitz and Gidi Gov, Mr. Rechter has made a great contribution to the Israeli music scene.
Born in Tel-Aviv (1951) Yoni Rechter studied in the Tel-Aviv Academy of Music
And during that time founded with Avner Kenner the avant-garde duo
“Fourteen Octaves”, they both created music which was influenced by progressive rock, jazz and classical music.
These three musical worlds accompanied Mr. Rechter during the next decades and they will find a great deal of expression in his work.
In 1998 within the framework of the “Classic and Different” series the Israeli Philharmonic Orchestra put on an evening completely dedicated to the songs and compositions of Yoni Rechter in symphonic attire.
Mr. Rechter has written a lot for theater, movies and dance and also he is performing as a singer and a pianist with his band.
His work won him various prizes: His song “Atur Mitz’chech” was voted best Hebrew song. He won ACUM (Israeli Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers) Prize in 1992 for his life work.
In 2008 he won the EMET Prize for Art, Science and Culture one of Israel most important prizes, The A.M.N Foundation finances the EMET prizes and awards them under the auspices of the Prime Minister.
